The UK has insufficient sunlight for most of the year for the skin to make adequate Vitamin D — especially in northern England and Scotland and during autumn and winter months. Exclusively breastfed babies are at particular risk as breast milk is a poor source of Vitamin D. The NHS and UK Chief Medical Officers recommend Vitamin D supplementation for all breastfed babies from birth, and for formula-fed babies who are not receiving at least 500ml of formula daily, which is fortified with Vitamin D. Use the dropper provided to measure the correct dose for your child's age as stated on the label. The drops can be placed directly into the baby's mouth — a small amount at a time on the inside of the cheek — or mixed into a small amount of formula, expressed milk, juice, or soft food. Do not mix into a full bottle or bowl, as the full dose may not be consumed. Administer once daily at a regular, convenient time.

It is important not to exceed the recommended daily intake for Vitamins A and D in children — both vitamins are fat-soluble and accumulate in the body with excess intake.
