FAQs

Can this help with arthritis?
+

Many people with arthritis — both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis — find regular warm Epsom salt baths with warming essential oils provide meaningful comfort relief, reduced stiffness, and improved ease of movement. The magnesium sulphate supports anti-inflammatory processes and muscle relaxation; the warmth reduces pain signalling; and the circulation-stimulating essential oil blend promotes blood flow to affected joints. This is a comfort and support measure rather than a medical treatment — it will not alter the course of the condition but can make daily living significantly more comfortable. Discuss with your rheumatologist or GP if you are unsure about incorporating it alongside your prescribed treatment.

What does the Mobility blend actually smell like?
+

The Mobility essential oil blend has a noticeably different character from the Lavender or Relaxation variants — it is warming, herby, and slightly sharp rather than floral or softly calming. Eucalyptus, rosemary, and juniper-type oils give it a clean, medicinal-herbal quality that many people associate with effective muscle and joint products. It smells purposeful rather than simply pleasant — which is entirely appropriate for a product with a specific therapeutic job to do.

Should I use this in the morning or evening?
+

The Mobility blend is one of the few Absolute Aromas bath salt variants that is equally well suited to morning and evening use. In the morning, it addresses the stiffness that is typically worst on waking and prepares the joints for the day's demands. In the evening, it relieves the accumulated aching of the day's activity and supports overnight recovery. Morning use is slightly preferred for those whose primary concern is starting the day with greater mobility; evening use is preferred for those whose primary concern is comfort and recovery after exertion.

Can I use this if I have sensitive skin?
+

The warming essential oils in the Mobility blend — particularly eucalyptus and black pepper or ginger types — are more stimulating in character than the lavender or relaxation blends and may cause a stronger skin response in very sensitive individuals. Start with a smaller quantity per bath — around 100g rather than 150–200g — and assess your skin's response before using a full dose. If you experience excessive redness, burning, or irritation, reduce the amount further or discontinue use.

Is this safe to use alongside prescribed medications for joint conditions?
+

Epsom salt bathing is generally considered safe alongside most prescribed medications for joint conditions. However, if you take medications that affect magnesium metabolism or kidney function, or if you have a condition that affects how your body processes minerals, consult your GP before introducing regular Epsom salt bathing. The essential oils are used at bath-safe concentrations and rinse off with the bath water, so direct drug interaction from the aromatherapy component is not a significant concern.
