Overview
The Activa Class I Below Knee Compression Stocking in honey is the skin-tone colourway in the Activa range — a warmer, golden-beige shade that sits closer to a natural leg tone than the neutral sand option and is considerably less visible under sheer hosiery, light trousers, or summer clothing than a dark stocking. For many wearers, this is the deciding factor: compression hosiery that can be worn without drawing attention is compression hosiery that actually gets worn consistently, and consistency is what determines whether the therapeutic benefit is realised day to day.
The clinical construction is identical to the rest of the Activa Class I range — graduated 14–17 mmHg compression, firmest at the ankle and reducing towards the knee, to support venous return and manage the symptoms of mild chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins, leg heaviness, and swelling during prolonged standing or sitting. The closed toe design provides full coverage of the foot and toe box, and the large size accommodates ankle and calf measurements in the upper band of the Activa sizing range.
Activa is a respected UK compression hosiery brand used across NHS and private healthcare settings. As with all compression hosiery, sizing should be confirmed by accurate ankle and calf measurement rather than by clothing size, and the correct compression class should be advised by a healthcare professional for any ongoing venous condition. Our pharmacists at Pearl Chemist Group offer compression stocking fitting consultations in store. Explore our full range of compression hosiery and our wider leg health and wound care supplies.
How to Use Activa Class I Below Knee Closed Toe Compression Stocking Honey – Large
- Confirm the large size is correct for your leg measurements. Measure your ankle circumference at the narrowest point and your calf at the widest point, first thing in the morning before swelling accumulates. Compare against the Activa size chart on the packaging. NOT FOUND — please confirm ankle and calf measurement ranges for the large size from Activa product documentation.
- Apply first thing in the morning before getting out of bed, or as early as possible after rising, while leg swelling is at its minimum.
- Invert the stocking to the heel. Turn the stocking inside out down to the heel pocket, leaving only the foot portion right side out. This makes application significantly easier than attempting to pull the full stocking on from the top.
- Position the foot correctly. Slide your foot into the foot portion with the heel sitting in the heel pocket before working the stocking up the leg.
- Unroll the stocking up the leg gradually, smoothing each section against the leg as you go. Work upward in stages from the ankle, smoothing as you progress, until the stocking sits comfortably below the knee.
- Check fit and smooth out any creases. The stocking should lie flat against the leg with no wrinkles or folds. The top band should sit below the knee without cutting in or rolling. Any crease creates a localised pressure point — always smooth before wearing.
- Remove at night unless your healthcare professional has specifically directed otherwise.
Application tips
- Rubber gloves improve grip significantly during application of compression stockings.
- A stocking donning aid is particularly helpful for those with limited flexibility or reduced hand strength.
- Allow any moisturiser to absorb fully before applying the stocking, as fresh cream causes fabric to slip.

How to Store Activa Class I Honey Compression Stocking – Large
- Unused stockings: Store in original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

- Drying: Air dry only. Do not tumble dry or place on a radiator — heat rapidly degrades elastic fibres.
- Rotation: Use two pairs in rotation if wearing daily to allow washing and drying time between uses.
- Replacement: Replace every three to six months with daily use, or sooner when compression feel reduces noticeably.
- Keep out of reach of children.

FAQs
Both honey and sand are skin-tone options in the Activa range, but they suit different natural skin tones. Honey is a warmer, golden-beige shade that tends to blend well with medium to olive skin tones and sits particularly naturally under sheer tights or hosiery. Sand is a cooler, lighter beige that tends to be less visible on fairer skin. Both are significantly more discreet under clothing than the black colourway and are a practical choice for anyone who wears the stockings under skirts, dresses, or light-coloured trousers. Choosing between them is largely a matter of personal skin tone and preference.
Yes. Wearing a compression stocking under a pair of tights or sheer hosiery is a common and practical approach for those who want the appearance of standard hosiery while maintaining compression. The honey colour is particularly well suited to this, as it blends naturally under most sheer hosiery shades. Apply the compression stocking first, ensuring it is correctly positioned and smooth, then apply the tights or hosiery over the top. The compression stocking should remain the layer directly against the skin.
The honey colourway is available in large and X Large within the Activa Class I Below Knee Closed Toe range stocked at Pearl Chemist Group. If you require a medium or a size outside this range in the honey colourway, speak to our team who can advise on availability. With regular daily use and correct washing care, compression stockings typically maintain their therapeutic compression for approximately three to six months before the elastic fibres begin to fatigue. Signs that replacement is needed include a noticeably looser fit, the stocking rolling down more easily than it used to, or visible thinning of the fabric. Replace on a regular schedule rather than waiting until the stocking is visibly worn out — a stocking that has lost its compression provides no meaningful therapeutic benefit.
