How to Use Alvita Sterile Gauze Swabs 7.5cm
- Perform hand hygiene. Wash hands for at least 20 seconds or use clinical hand gel before handling sterile swabs. In clinical wound contact procedures, wear sterile gloves.
- Prepare your dressing field before opening any sterile packaging — have all required materials assembled before exposing sterile surfaces.
- Open the individual sterile wrapper immediately before use. Peel back carefully, touching only the outer wrapper. Allow the sterile swab to fall onto a clean sterile field without directly handling the sterile wound-contact surface with an ungloved hand.
- Use promptly after opening. Once the wrapper is opened, the swab must be used immediately. If it contacts a non-sterile surface before use, discard and open a fresh swab.
- Apply to the wound as clinically indicated:
- As a wound contact layer: Place gently over the full wound surface with a margin beyond the wound edges.
