FAQs

Is a mist format easier to apply than a lotion self-tan?
+

For large body areas and hard-to-reach spots — the back, shoulders, and the back of the legs — a mist format is significantly more practical than a lotion applied by hand. The spray allows coverage of areas that would otherwise require assistance or contortion to reach, and the fine mist distribution reduces the risk of the heavy-handed over-application in one area that causes streaks. For the front of the body, a lotion or mousse with a tanning mitt may give equally good or better control. Many self-tanners use a mist for the back and a lotion for the front for the best overall result.

Do I still need to blend a mist self-tan or will it apply evenly by itself?
+

Blending is still important. Whilst the mist provides a more even initial distribution than a lotion, the fine droplets need to be worked into the skin with clean hands or a tanning mitt to ensure consistent, streak-free coverage. Blending immediately after spraying each area — before the mist dries on the skin surface — is the key step for achieving the even result the mist format promises. Skipping this step and relying purely on the spray distribution tends to produce a less even result than hand application of a lotion with a dedicated tanning mitt.

How is this different from the Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer Self-Tan lotion?
+

Both use the same Natural Bronze DHA-based self-tanning approach to produce a gradual, natural-looking result — the primary difference is the application format. The body mist delivers via a fine spray for easier coverage of large and hard-to-reach areas; the lotion is applied by hand with a tanning mitt for more direct, controlled coverage. The tan quality and development is similar between the two — the choice is primarily one of application preference and the specific areas of the body being tanned.

How long does the tan last?
+

A DHA-based self-tan typically lasts five to seven days before fading naturally as the skin's surface cells shed. Regular moisturising significantly extends the tan's life and helps it to fade evenly. Reapplying every three to five days maintains the tan depth continuously — using after the full development of the previous application has begun to fade rather than stacking applications before the first has fully developed.

Can I use this on my face?
+

This body mist is formulated for body use. For facial self-tanning, a dedicated facial self-tanner is recommended — facial products are formulated at concentrations and with vehicles appropriate for the more sensitive, thinner skin of the face. Please check the specific product indication from current packaging and use a dedicated facial self-tan for the face area.

Does this protect against sunburn?
+

No. This is a cosmetic self-tanning product and contains no sun protection factor. A DHA-based self-tan provides no UV protection — the cosmetic colour is not the same as melanin produced by UV stimulation and does not function as a UV barrier. Always apply a separate broad-spectrum sunscreen before any outdoor sun exposure regardless of how tanned your skin appears from self-tanning products.

Is this a good product for self-tanning beginners?
+

Yes — the gradual, buildable nature of the Natural Bronze formulation and the mist application format make it a forgiving product for beginners. Mistakes are less dramatic because the result develops progressively, allowing time to even out application before the full tan is established. Starting with one application, waiting for the full development, and assessing the result before adding more is the most reliable approach for first-time users of this product.
