FAQs

Why is a mousse format better or worse than a lotion for self-tanning?
+

Neither is universally better — they suit different preferences and situations. Mousse dries significantly faster than lotion (two to five minutes versus ten to fifteen), which is a practical advantage for morning routines or those who are impatient for the product to set. The foam texture provides better tactile feedback of where has been covered, reducing missed patches. However, mousse requires faster working as it begins to set quickly, making it slightly less forgiving for beginners who need more time to blend. Lotion allows a more leisurely, controlled application. Most regular self-tanners develop a clear preference; beginners often find lotion more forgiving.

Does the coconut scent mask the DHA smell completely?
+

The coconut fragrance significantly moderates the DHA developing scent but does not eliminate it entirely — DHA's biscuit-like reaction odour is a chemical process rather than an added fragrance, and while it can be complemented and overlaid by a pleasant scent, it cannot be completely masked. The coconut fragrance is most effective during and immediately after application; as the DHA develops over four to eight hours, the characteristic DHA reaction scent becomes more noticeable. This is a feature of all DHA-based self-tanners and not specific to this product — the coconut fragrance simply makes the experience more enjoyable throughout.

Can I use this self-tan mousse the morning before an event?
+

For a first application, no — the tan needs four to eight hours to fully develop and colour assessed before a repeat application. For an established, maintained tan where you are applying to an already-tanned skin base, a morning application develops well by evening. For a first-time result ahead of a specific event, apply two to three days before to allow time for assessment, adjustment, and the full development of the desired depth. The gradual Natural Bronzer formulation means the final result is not dramatic from a single application — plan for multiple applications over three to five days ahead of any specific occasion.

How does the mousse compare to the mist and lotion in the same range?
+

All three use the same Natural Bronzer DHA formulation to produce a gradual, natural-looking result — the differences are entirely in application experience. The mousse dries fastest and provides the best tactile feedback during application; the lotion allows the most leisurely, controlled application; the mist is best for the back and hard-to-reach areas. Many self-tanners who use the range regularly choose different formats for different areas: mist for the back, mousse or lotion for the front. All three produce a very similar final tan result.
